Hi there! We are Saltstone Studios.

We are a team of 7 people in Northern Ireland, making narrative games with heart.

We’re interested  in exploring systems-based narrative games with deep choices and consequences, and we craft each title in-house with care and attention.

We made The Pale Beyond, and are hard at work on our next title, The Hearth and Harbour.

WISHLIST The Hearth and Harbour on Steam NOW!

Transform a run-down restaurant and build a new life for yourself in this management RPG. Decide what kind of restaurant you want to create and what kind of person you want to be. As a storm brews outside, every choice you make has consequences.

The Hearth and Harbour is currently in development by Saltstone Studios, and will be published by our friends at Fellow Traveller.

Our first game, The Pale Beyond, is OUT NOW to play on Steam and Nintendo Switch!

The digital art book and soundtrack are also available on Steam.

You didn’t ask to lead this expedition, but here you are. Stuck in the ice, Captain missing, miles from civilisation. Someone has to take charge. Manage your meagre resources, balance safety and morale, make the hard calls, and head in the only direction you can – through The Pale Beyond.

The Pale Beyond was developed by Saltstone Studios, and published by our friends at Fellow Traveller.

Reviews for The Pale Beyond:

[Saltstone Studios] has smashed their first game out of the park! What a wonderful first experience from them. The Pale Beyond is a classy game that simply oozes quality, authenticity, and confidence with a casual aplomb. It unashamedly knows what it’s trying to be and easily succeeds in doing so.

– Gaming Respawn

The Pale Beyond is a masterclass in tone and atmosphere informing gameplay. As Captain Robin Shaw, you’ll need to make tough decisions constantly, but this stressful journey is well worth seeing through to the end.

– Gaming Trend

[Saltstone Studios]‘ game is by no means the first of its kind to force you through hardships and invite you to confront your own regrettable choices. But its decision to show you the consequences of those actions at all times proves fascinating, in one sense heightening the artifice of everything you’re doing, but also finding ways to make that work within the context of its story.
